- About the Book-:The Return of Tarzan is a novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, originally published in 1913. It is the second book in the Tarzan series, and follows the ape-man as he decides to leave the USA to visit his friend, Paul d’Arnot in Paris. On the journey he meets the Countess Olga de Coude, and her husband, Count Raoul de Coude, and two dodgy men who are attempting to prey on them, Nikolas Rokoff and his henchman Alexis Paulvitch. Tarzan ends up making an enemy of Rokoff after he thwarts his plans, and the villainous man tries to kill our hero both in Paris, and in Algeria where he has been assigned as a special agent. Eventually, after being thrown overboard by Rokoff, Tarzan ends up in the jungle where he was brought up, and finds himself embroiled in a search for the lost city of Opar. Meanwhile, Jane Porter and her fiance William Cecil Clayton, are forced to take refuge in a lifeboat after the ship they are sailing on, sinks. After ending up in the same area Tarzan is in, adventure ensues as Jane is kidnapped by the ape-men of Opar, and it's up to Tarzan to save the day.
